I learnt that lecturers are also people who have had their own journey, struggles, successes and motivations to have gotten to where they are. And that even when they are organised, that meddling spouses can throw a spanner in the works and leave them stranded :-P 

I also learnt a great way to split screen for reading articles and writing about them simultaneously.
