They will all be revealed tonight when the Christmas tree is lit."<br>Torvald says this to Nora after she lies to him about not having bought macaroons. The light symbolizes revelation of the truth, and the decorated Christmas tree represents Nora hiding the truth from Helmer. This foreshadows Krogstad's revelation of Nora's secret and the steps she takes to keep Torvald from reading the letter and finding out about the loan and forgery.<br><br>Act 2:<br>"<em>The Christmas tree is in the corner by the piano, stripped of its ornaments and with burnt out candle-ends on its dishevelled branches.</em>"<br>Ibsen uses stage directions and changes in lighting to reflect the theme and show what is happening. The stripped Christmas tree shows how the facade that Nora has developed to keep Torvald in the dark regarding the loan, and the burnt-out candles show how <br><br>Act 3:<br>"...but our home has been nothing but a playroom. I am your doll-wife, just as I was papa's doll-child."</div>]]></description>

Your father was not a man of unassailable reputation. But I am. And I hope to remain so all my life (Ibsen Act 2).¨&nbsp;<br>This moment of dramatic irony represents the secretive and doll-like realationship that Nora and Torvald. Nora´s father and Torvald, when it comes to their behaviors towards Nora, treat her the same, so Torvald calling out Nora´s father as someone completely different is quite childish for his character.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>

"Keep your little Christmas secrets to yourself, my darling. They will all be revealed tonight when the Christmas tree is lit."
Torvald says this to Nora after she lies to him about not having bought macaroons. The light symbolizes revelation of the truth, and the decorated Christmas tree represents Nora hiding the truth from Helmer. This foreshadows Krogstad's revelation of Nora's secret and the steps she takes to keep Torvald from reading the letter and finding out about the loan and forgery.]]></description>
