Keep a reflective journal to document and evaluate your skills development.

You should produce at least one entry a week that will include: 

1. Any Async work you have been set. 

2. Explanation of the skills and processes you have learnt and how you used them. 

3. Reflection on your week's work (whether practical, theory, planning etc.); 

• Discuss what went well. 

• Discuss areas that were challenging and what you did to overcome them. 

• Explain how you're going to develop your project / improve your skills next time. 

4. Images of your work in the Film Studio and any other appropriate media you wish. 

Submission Evidence: Written, audio or video entries to be uploaded to your Padlet. Maximum time for video/ audio: 3 minutes per post. 

Shoot your suspense scene.  

Complete post-production for your suspense scene. 

Submission evidence:  MP4 of the Final film uploaded to or linked from your Padlet along with your pre-production materials.  

This is a great opportunity to see your work projected on the big screen and to receive constructive feedback.  

Complete a reflection that answers the two following questions in detail: 

1. Critically assess the creation and use of suspense in your final sequence.  

   1. You should refer to your Suspense Analysis (Task 3).  

   2. You should also include reference to tutor and peer (audience) feedback.  

2. Over the project, evaluate how effective your research, analysis of suspense and pre-production and planning work was in helping you develop and make your suspense sequence.  

Submission evidence: Approx. 750-1000 word written document with screenshots (if relevant) or a video/ audio recording (no more than 5 mins) uploaded to Padlet. 

You will analyse a range of primary and secondary sources and critically compare their usefulness and strengths and weaknesses in different contexts. 

You will create a Research Log for your suspense sequence that will include one primary and one secondary source from each of the following areas; 

1. Analysis of similar media (e.g. other suspense films) 

2. Target audience (demographics, psychographics, likes, access, figures etc.). 

3. Filmmaking techniques (e.g. suspense techniques, sound, music, editing, camera, narrative, mise-en-scene etc.) 

4. Production requirements (e.g., locations, props, costumes, actors, sourcing sound)  

   
   

You will then write a Research Summary where you critically compare your research (remember discussion always involves explanation and reasoning);  

1. Discuss the research methods and skills you found most useful in this project 

2. Discuss which sources of research you found most useful in this project?  

3. Compare different types of research and sources and discuss which might be appropriate in different situations and projects?  

4. How effective and/or challenging did you find completing different research tasks?
