They have always loved the sea and decided to take a trip around the world on a sail boat. Their first trip lasted ten years and the second three years. They became known for their experiences and for having survived so many adventures. They have three biological sons and one adopted daughter, Kat, who died in 2006. At present the Schürmmans live on Ilha Bela, on the northern coast of Sao Paulo where they have a consulting firm.
