Although we may not know we are spreading racism we are by perpetuating the societal norms we currently live within. I feel we need to be able to recognize systematic racism in order to stop the cycle and be willing to discuss it openly with others.

When will people stop just talking about this, validating themselves, saying all the "right things and buzzwords", reading all the "right books" and telling people they read them...and just start being about it? I realize everyone is at different levels of understanding and have different life experiences, but this is not a new topic. I am tired of listening to people only talk about it and not seeing changes that need to happen. Sorry. Just being honest.

I realized how angry I am about the continued talking about being racist and not doing anything about it besides talking, that is happening in our country, and especially here in NC. His talking made me uncomfortable as a white person, but mostly because I felt like it was shallow. I will do a little research about him to see if that changes my mind, but that is my first reaction.
