A good way to get involved in a community is to establish partnerships. Like the book says, " As members of a society, it is our responsibility to work col- laboratively to help improve personal, family and community health. " I can personally relate to how partnerships have improved my family health. My dad has become very close to a mechanic and that mechanic has repairs and renovated so many things in our home. This improves my family, financially because the mechanic has always been able to do very difficult task, all at a discounted price.

How active/involved you are in your community can really say a lot about who you are. Being actively involved in the community can help mental health and personal well-being. This can easily be attained through voluntary work. "Community activities give teenagers the chance to apply the skills they already have. " This can help teenagers feel good about putting their talents to good use for the community. I love being around kids, and I'm pretty good at interacting with them. This explains the time when I volunteered to babysit my neighbor for 3 weeks without pay. At the end of the 3 weeks I felt very good about myself for doing a good deed for others without any personal gain.

Going through life admiring someone for something they've done can be very beneficial. Looking at a successful figure as your role model can help you track your life." Interacting and cooperating with other adults encourages you to see the world in different ways. " This past summer, I was shadowing my doctor. It was amazing seeing all the different types of problems she had to deal with and how she dealt with them. I learned that it's good to stay positive in situations that may bother others, just to help them feel better.
