Then, transport the individual to the ER if the wound was caused by a larger object. </p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Post Care: </strong>All serious puncture wound patients should immediately be transported to the ER.</p>]]></description>

The wound should be covered with sterile dressing.  </p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Post Care: </strong>If the incision causes further complications later, you may need to check in with your doctor. Sometimes, individuals need to go back to their doctor to get surgical sutures removed after the incision heals. </p>]]></description>

All providers should wear disposable non latex gloves, gowns/aprons/masks (hospital setting), and eye protection. If you come in contact with blood you should take tests for HIV. Also, after treating these wounds you should disinfect yourself as well as any surfaces the blood came in contact with. </p>]]></description>
