When they got to the river, they relaxed, later on Hiram saw that three negro boys. He got closer to see who they were and he knew one them which was Emmett Till (aka Bobo). Emmett went up to Hiram asking him if he had something to eat and Hiram said, " yeah, let me get some". But R.C woke up before Hiram can get the food for Emmett. R.C said,"We don't share our food with colored people". Hiram thought it wasn't a big deal to share food with colored people. Hiram and grandpa have an argument about him testifying which Hiram's grandpa doesn't agree with him doing. Hiram doesn't want to do the wrong thing. He wants to do the right thing which will give justices to Emmett Till. He knows that he'll be a big trouble for testifying against R.C.
