         <description><![CDATA[<ol><li>Describe the lives of professional women in wartime and emphasize the changes brought by the War<ol><li>How women worked in the home front</li><li>Women replaced men due to the fact that men were all serving as soldiers</li><li>Women were still not paid the same as men even though they did the same jobs</li></ol></li><li>Analyze the gender relations after the war.<ol><li>Due to their hard work, women were given some rights in some countries </li><li>a right given to women was the right to vote </li><li>Some countries, like France, however, did not believe that women deserved vote</li><li>The pre-war order was very much emphasized after the war </li><li>Men once again took their jobs back and women were displaced</li><li>Women were expected to go back to their domestic sphere even though they had been successful in their jobs during the world</li><li>Many women did not want to give up the new rights and opportunities they achieved during the war</li></ol></li><li>Concentrate on studies that target gender relations for specific groups or individuals, periods of time, or countries.<ol><li>Different women had different experiences<ol><li>some women, especially in the middle and high classes, gained more freedom than other women in different social classes</li></ol></li><li>Three different periods of study<ol><li>1960s to 1970s<ol><li>Evidence of gains in women's rights was inflated </li><li>Many people said that WWI made a big change in women's status</li><li>Emphasis on the new roles available to women</li></ol></li><li>1980s<ol><li>Less optimistic perspective</li><li>Emphasis on the short-term effects of change</li><li>Double Helix - a metaphor for the progress that women achieved and then subsequent regress</li></ol></li><li>1990s<ol><li>Emphasis on the fact that WWI was not a true watershed of change for women and gender relations - more of a <strong>catalyst</strong></li><li>More specific studies for women conducted with different variables of interest</li><li>Deflation of effect of that WWI had on women - increase in female employment was not as large as earlier studies said</li></ol></li></ol></li></ol></li><li>Present the conclusion of the topic.<ol><li>WWI had an effect on present day since it was the one of the first steps to the emancipation of women worldwide</li><li>WWI played a part in present-day women's ability to work outside of the home and not be subjected to only housework </li></ol></li></ol>]]></description>
