Implementing a collaborative approach to analyze student data and working together in the intervention process.

I chose this because at our school, we have had a couple of meeting with our Special Education teachers and been provided with the data and the strategies taking place with our students in order to foster an environment of collaboration. It is exciting to be part of this new shift in thought, challenging all school staff to work together.

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1PPB2JDpSfw6dNnwM6RY2IBNrzyl8ncXJD0SpaFT3Pyg/edit

Sentence: "MTSS incorporates many of the same components of RtI2, such as supporting high-quality standards and research-based, culturally and linguistically relevant instruction with the belief that every student can learn including students of poverty, students with disabilities, English learners, and students from all ethnicities evident in the school and district cultures."

I chose this sentence because I feel that this sentiment is one of the most important aspects of education. The implementation of this mindset on a broad scale is one of the best things that can happen to education as a whole. Equity needs to be at the forefront of our minds as educators, and remembering that every child has potential to learn given the right tools and adequate support. Every single child has something positive to offer your classroom, and more broadly, the world. It is our job as educators to empower our students to explore their assets, develop areas they are weaker in, and believe that they can do anything they set their mind to.

"In California, MTSS is an integrated, comprehensive framework that focuses on CCSS, core instruction, differentiated learning, student-centered learning, individualized student needs, and the alignment of systems necessary for all students’ academic, behavioral, and social success."

I choose this sentence because this ties in with ensuring schools and districts provided equitable education/instruction for ALL students that come into our schools. The MTSS system does a fantastic job with putting students in a level that is tiered with their own developmental level of learning. The MTSS also targets students that are gifted as well. When I was living in Florida, this one school I worked at did an amazing job at implementing this system. The goal of MTSS is supporting students to move towards tier one. My favorite was celebrating student success when students moved from tier 3 to tier 2. When I had tier 2, we would do one comprehension page together then I would send the students off into small groups to practice the skills and standards the students would specifically need to learn in order to move up. This answers the question because MTSS is a educational system designed to support ALL students.
