Or because MDEA found errors in who they laid off.

This Friday, 4/15, there will be a RIF hearing, reduction in force, to go through each person and see that the District has followed all guidelines, rules, laws with those pink slipped.  After the hearing and all individual cases are heard, errors corrected, the final notice will be sent out on 5/15.  

Can still be rescinded after 5/15.  If they rescind before the end of the year, is not considered laid off.

After been laid off, District has the responsibility to hire any of the teachers back for anything they are certified for.  Only have to offer a job once.

There are 2 sections of the contract that allow people to use "Layoff Leave" to look for a new job.

At federal level, legislation is being considered.  Several "bad actors" are lobbying the politicians.
