I wanted to write something along the lines of a brothers Grim fairytale, so fairy tale and horror. What I have right now is just a setting of a small town. Everyone in the town knows the stories that the adults tell the kids, basically don’t go into the forest at night because you’ll be eaten by monsters (but there actually are monsters).

I didn’t so much write a fairy tale as I wrote a sort of legend. I wrote the story of a sailor whose parents told him the tale of a ship that is supposedly impossible to commandeer. The boat, known as The Shadow, is known to sink the ships of anyone who comes near her. The sailor, when he’s older, decides he wants to try and take it. He takes a crew and sails off to find The Shadow. After several days, they find The Shadow. It looks eerie, and haunted. There is no crew, yet the boat remains in working condition. As the sailor and his crew board the boat, the rigging comes alive and kills the members of his crew, and tries to kill him. The sailor makes his way to the helm, but as he grabs it he hears a scream and screams himself as his eyes are ripped out and his soul is embedded in the ship. And there he remains, waiting for another soul brave enough to try and commandeer The Shadow.
