Puritans were simple folk people with a strong religion loving god, they believed anythng bad that happened to someone or something had occured it was all because of the devil and his power. Puritians had several beliefs that lead to the idea of worshipping and loving god from the theology of John calvin also known as calvinsim his beliefs were total depravity, predestination, limited atonement and grace. Theocracy was a government that blended church and state which led on to the idea of a city upon a hill which meant people living in harmony under gods word. Education then was strictly bible reading that was all there was to do due to a struggle of boredom. Witchcraft was a strong belief that the devil had control of everything and everyone. Back then people believed the satan was recuriting people for acts of evil. A girl named Tituba would share stories to young girls that lead them to believe that they were decieved and prosecuted by the devil. Tituba denied she was a witch and was later prosecuted.Confessing teenagers were announced to the town as a public outcry of a sighting of a devil. A way to determine if a woman was a witch the court would take her to trial and strip clothing off the woman and searching for a third nipple which declared that the woman was able to feed devil babies she may have had.
