I started taking Korean this year, as I love learning new languages, and engaging socially. Since the start of the year, I have made significant progress in many areas, such as speaking, reading, typing, and writing in Korean. Some other things that I enjoy about being in my Korean class are group projects, earning points, fun games, and social opportunities. I also love getting to learn about a new culture and place in the world. To conclude, I am enjoying my Korean class, and I have made great progress in learning the language.

Hi! My name is Owen, and I started taking Korean this year. It's such an amazing class! We work on speaking, listening, reading and writing/typing. I have gotten significantly better at all of them and have made an amazing amount of progress. Ms. Shim is a wonderful teacher and makes this class my favorite! We play fun games, earn points, engage in conversation in Korean and do projects. These help us practice all 4 categories in a very engaging way. We also learn about Korean culture. I love learning about all of this! All in all, I would say that I have come very far in the class, look forward to learning more and highly recommend the class! Thank you very much!

Hi, my name is Sooah and I’m in 7th grade. I joined this Korean class in the middle of the semester. I had already had basic Korean skills, but I wanted to take this class to improve my confidence. Having Mrs. Shim tremendously helped my Korean language skills. She makes class fun and easier to learn Korean by explaining the grammar and rules. I had her as my teacher before in USBKS (United Seattle Bellevue Korean school.) She was an amazing teacher and she helped me so much. I’ve seen lots of improvement on my writing and speaking since I started this Korean class with Mrs. Shim.

Hello! My name is Arie. I started taking Korean in 7th grade and now I'm still taking it in 8th grade! Korean is a wonderful class, and I've learned how to read, speak type, and write in Korean. Learning Korean has been a bit difficult at times (like learning any other language), but my amazing classmates and teachers have helped me learn and improve my skills. Korean class has engaging, fun and interesting lessons to help with learning and I highly recommend it. I have made much progress since starting a year ago and I couldn't have done it without the great teaching skills and support from my teachers, and I look forwards to more lessons!

Hello, my name is Niva. I am in 7th grade, I started learning Korean last year in 6th grade and this is my second year now. Korean is a beautiful language and I'm grateful that I have the opportunity to learn it. At first, Korean class was hard to understand, and it was difficult to keep the same pace as my peers and teacher. However, I persevered and I kept practicing, I got help from my classmates and my teacher. They were all very great help, and I've learned a lot from them. I feel that my Korean has greatly improved from last year and I understand more, but I still have more to learn if I want to be fluent in Korean, so I'll keep practicing and working hard. I appreciate that my teacher is very kind and gives many opportunities for us to speak more Korean. All in all, I love Korean class and I'm set on continuing Korean throughout Highschool, I really recommend taking Korean and I look forward to seeing more people learn Korean language and/or culture!

Hello, my name is Juliet and I am a freshman at Newport High School. I have been slowly learning Korean all of my life as I am from an ethically Korean family. However, despite my grandparent's effort it never really worked and I barely progressed. My mom even enrolled me in Korean school on Saturdays however even these classes which I have done for the last 4 years never really helped me progress. This is why I was quite surprised when I started to become more comfortable in the Digital Discovery Korean class in Bellevue School District. Through this program I have started piecing together sentences which allows me to engage in conversations with my grandparents! I don't know why other learning experiences haven't allowed my growth, but I do know that something about this program is special. A class was simply to earn language credit has turned into something life changing. Ms. Shim is the best teacher who always motivates us to be our best. I love how even though it is online we can do actual projects including with other people in class. Thank you Digital Discovery and thank you Ms. Shim!

Hi. My name is Brent, and I enjoyed the last two school years of being in Korean. Not only did we learn about the language, but also gained unique experiance such as the field trips, gift exchange, and getting to learn about the many aspects of Korean Culture. When I was very young, I had lived in Korea with my grandparents, and learned a large portion of the language. However, when I moved back to America with my mom, I slowly forgot the language since I never got to really speak to anyone in that language. This class helped me to stop that loss of knowledge, and even learn new words that I probably never even knew when I was young. Overall, this class had been fun and entertaining the whole time that I had been in it, and I value the large amount of time that Ms. Lee had put into keeping the class going. Thank you Ms. Lee!

Hello! My name is Greyson and I'm an 8th grader from Odle Middle School and I started taking Korean class in 7th grade. This class is truly amazing, as it connects the students deeply to more cultures and to other students from different schools since it's online. I'm half Korean, but I've never really tried before to learn it however much my parents wanted me to. This class has helped me much more in understanding the language and the culture and history of Korea. The field trips are amazing, as it is beneficial to appreciate the culture of Korea through seeing it in real life and enjoying it. I have enjoyed the class so much, I'm going to continue taking it next year at Bellevue High School because I look forward to learning so many new things! Thank you Ms. Lee!

My name is Chloe and this will be my first time taking Korean, and last time taking such a wonderful class.

From my past experience taking mandarin for my first three years of high school, I initially thought Korean would be the same difficulty. But to my surprise, it was surprisingly easy to learn in such a short amount of time. Probably due to our teacher deciding to help us learn the basics of Korean consonants and vowels. Our teacher also took a lot of time to make sure we understood the unit before we took our tests.

With my progress in Korean, it was shockingly easy to learn once you get the basic consonants and vowels down. And later on as we learned the culture, basic phrases, and grammar structuring, as long as i paid attention in class, it was easy to follow and learn. It was slow enough that we could follow along, but fast enough that when I finally learned the unit, we would be onto the next thing.

I think I enjoyed the projects and the restaurant film a lot since I got to actually interact with my classmates in my school and enjoyed the process of film making, and being creative in general which is what i like about the class. Although sometimes we wouldn't get through content fast enough and lingered on a unit longer than necessary, it was still enjoyable. Especially our Korean fair trip!

This class is special to me and the most memorable class I've had this my entire high school life, and if people decide to only take a year, it's still an enjoyable experience.

I’ve never learned another language in person other than English but I really liked that I’m able to learn Korean. Learning it online is definitely different than learning it in person but because of the amount of resources we get like OneNote and Quizlet it’s pretty fun. I like that this year we are doing more things like OneNotes and Padlets like the 흑백요리사since last year we mostly did Quizlets and Padlets. You and Ms. Shim are both really good teachers despite the class being online and I’m so happy I been able to have both of you as my teachers. Again, 델리아.

Hello!! My name is Wendy and as someone who took Korean for the first time (and sadly, my last), I can honestly say that it was such a wonderful experience learning Korean because not only did we get to do a lot of projects that helped me learn, but we also got to do many fun things that were also pretty helpful (like going on field trips, doing mini games once in a while, watching fun videos, etc.). Getting to learn Korean was fun, but what also made it more interesting was how we got to learn about Korean culture, food, manners, music, clothing and much more! I feel extremely proud with how much I got to learn in just 10 months (or so) and as someone who has a lot of hard moments with learning even the most basic stuff, being able to have even the smallest of conversations with someone in Korean is something I will always be proud of :3. Something I personally found really helpful has been Quizlets, Padlets, and especially...Nearpods!! but honestly I would say everything in Korean class has been really helpful as someone who likes to learn in different ways. Honestly speaking, I can say that taking Korean is something I was the proudest about my entire school year and the fact that I was able to improve so much in what felt like such little time (special mention to my 돌아버리겠다 poster <3).

Thank you so much for everything Ms. Shim!! :D

<3
