An application of tropical leaf grains and its elements into natural based textile pieces.

Recently natural and made-man polymer fibres are used for preparation of functionalised textiles to achieve smart and intelligent properties. There are numerous application possibilities of these modified materials. Main pathways for functionalizaton of fibres are: inclusion of functional additives (inorganic particles, polymers, organic compounds); chemical grafting of additives on the surface of fibres and coating of fibres with layers of functional coatings. A new approach to produce new materials is by nanotechnology, which offers a wide variety of possibilities for development of materials with improved properties. Composites of cellulose fibres with nano-particles combine numerous advantageous properties of cellulose with functionality of inorganic particles, hence yielding new, intelligent materials. For preparing cellulose composite materials profound knowledge about fibres properties is needed. Besides, new fibre qualities are demanded to guaranty the modification efficiency. Therefore non-standard methods are involved to determine physical properties of fibres.

In addition to, manufacture, use and removal of traditional textile materials are now considered more critically because of increasing environmental consciousness and the demands of legislative authorities. Natural cellulose fibres have successfully proven their qualities when also taking into account an ecological view of fibre materials. Different cellulose fibres can be used for textile and technical applications, e.g. bast or stem fibres, which form fibrous bundles in the inner bark (phloem or bast) of stems of dicotyledenous plants, leaf fibres which run lengthwise through the leaves of monocotyledenous plants and fibres of seeds and fruits. Flax, hemp, jute, ramie, sisal and coir are mainly used for technical purposes. Recently, the interest for renewable resources for fibres particularly of plant origin is increasing. Therefore several non-traditional plants are being studied with the aim to isolate fibres from plant leaves or stems.  Line leaf and an application of tropical leaf grains and its elements into natural based textile pieces colour indigo. I study the colour indigo, is a species of plant from the bean family that was one of the original sources of indigo dye. It has been naturalized to tropical and temperate Asia, as well as parts of Africa, but its native habitat is unknown since it has been in cultivation worldwide for many centuries. Today most dye is synthetic, but natural dye from I. tinctoria is still available, marketed as natural coloring where it is known as tarum in Indonesia and nila in Malaysia. In Iran and areas of the former Soviet Union it is known as basma. The plant is also widely grown as a 

soil-improving groundcover.

True indigo is a shrub one to two meters high. It may be an annual, biennial, or perennial, depending on the climate in which it is grown. It has light green pinnate leaves and sheafs of pink or violet flowers. The plant is a legume, so it is rotated into fields to improve the soil in the same way that other legume crops such as alfalfa and beans are.

Dye is obtained from the processing of the plant's leaves. They are soaked in water and fermented in order to convert the glycoside indican naturally present in the plant to the blue dye indigotin. The precipitate from the fermented leaf solution is mixed with a strong base such as lye.

This unique shade of blue is called infigo, and irs come from an organic dye derived from indigofera plants.considered the king of blues, indigo is extensively used in fabric dyeing for its rich and colour. Indigo dyeing has a long history, and the method is still as popular as it was centuries ago.

 

 

If the fabric remains green when it oxidizes, a typical happenstance with woad, the remedy is simple. After you are finished with the dye process, let the fiber or fabric oxidize overnight. Then, rinse in vinegar. The pH change will turn the color of the fabric to blue. If you do not change the pH, the green remains permanent, as long as it never encounters anything acidic.

If the fabric is grey or purple when it oxidizes, your pH is too low and the indigo is not properly reduced. Indigotin reduces at a pH of ten, if your pH is lower than the indigo will not adhere to your fabric. Check your vat’s pH, and add washing soda to bring it back to a pH of ten. You can then re-vat your miscoloured fabric and it will pick up the indigo and be fine. Alternatively, you could keep it in as is, as those non-blue indigo colors are also colourfast.
