Definition: An appeal to authority is when a professionals opinion on a matter or situation is taken with absolute certainty of being the truth.

Connection:
Appeal to Authority is a very common red flag in the modern world of social media, there are many examples of this but a common example and case of Appeal to Authority is people believing in their idols opinions and public statements simply due to the fact that they see them as a higher status or value due to their worth. An example of this would be Stephen Hawking and his statement about the future of AI spelling the end of humanity, there is no way to know that this outcome is certain but the majority of people tend to believe in Stephen solely for the fact of his academic credibility and history of accomplishments.

Definition:
Ideological support is an act on a cause which is backed up by ideology rather than science. When someone, in this case, Rosa Parks, makes a stand for something they believe in which is - more often than not - backed up by a large group of people.

Connection:
In this case Rosa Parks went against the social norms and refused to give up her seat for a white man. This then caused a nation-wide effort to end racial biases and segregation. Without the need for science or fact, she stood up for what she believed in and created one of the largest movements in history to make a difference.

Definition:
Ancient wisdom is the belief that because something has been around for a long time, it's effective, and the right method. Primarily in medicine, people are inclined to believe in religion more than modern medicine and can end up dying because of it.

Connection:
When people who are devoutly religious become ill, say with cancer, rather than turning to modern medicine they turn to God. Hoping that their Faith with cure them they ignore all signs that they need professional help and, in most cases, end up not getting better, and more often than not in the case of cancer; dying.

Definition:
Confirmation bias is when someone recalls, an event, or information in a manner that is incorrect but strengthens their argument.

Connection:
The entirety of politics. Every politician, every political campaign, anything to do with a person trying to gain the vote of a group of people, is confirmation bias. A politician will not hesitate to ignore facts and rely solely on charm, wit, and their own beliefs to control a population into thinking that they are right. Each group has their own beliefs, and each group will tell you that they are right, but not every group can be right, so each group has to hide certain parts of their agenda and put on a mask for the people.

Or someone hearing something that isn't there. You can hear white noise in a radio receiver sometimes, people often mistake that sound for the voices of dead people or someone who's lost. They make out patterns in the noise and put a picture behind it when really, it's just noise.
