Why are we doing the work of creating common assessments for evaluating students?

When we pass on IEPs to new teachers, we have an accurate portrayal of the current levels of students and their progress. Additionally, ensuring that we are maintaining alignment to standards and the true expectations of learning for each grade level.

Meet not only with vertical teammates, but also with grade level peers to build and refine assessments. We need to have a true understanding of grade level skills and expectations.

The district’s current goal is to ensure consistency across all buildings. If a student transfers from one building to another within the district, they should experience continuity in their education and remain on track with the same instructional expectations.

Similarly, if a student changes case managers, they should continue receiving the same or comparable instruction, supports, and services to maintain steady progress toward their goals.
