Cuando construimos una oración tenemos que añadir un verbo de relato como: tell, say,  ask,etc. (cambiarlos a pasado:told, said, asked...). Y tenemos que agregar "that"
Algunos ejemplos son: 
Petter:  I am from Peru
     Petter said that was (or was) from Peru 
Robert: what's your name? 
     Robert asked me what was (or is) my name.
Los demostrativos, en directo "this" (este) e indirecto "that" (ese). Por ejemplo:
I will buy this car- Me compraré este coche 
He toldme that he would buy that car- Él me dijo que compraría ese coche.
