However I don't believe fairness in this thing is a good thing, if everyone is the same in regards to talent like how they are in Harrison Bergeron, nothing would be very entertaining, in how the ballet dancers were no better than the average person, who would want to watch that? if everyone was average at acting movies wouldn't be nearly as good as they are now and give us respect for the hard work going into it, and that can be said for really anyting. this isn't giving everyone equal opportunity at life, it's giving everyone the same lives. If people had handicaps now there would be the average hazels that would be okay with it, there would be georges effected by it but willing to suffer through, and there would be harrisons as well, people who try their best to fight it, overall there would probably be more harrisons,  people nowadys really celebrate individuality i think.

The government doesn't really idolize equality, they idolize equity. Being equal is being given the same chances to accomplish things. Equality is a great thing when used in the correct context, but sadly it rarely is. When you are equal with someone, it doesn't make you the same. Being equal means you've been given the same opportunities as everyone around you. I feel that Vonnegut's views on equality might be in contradiction with my own due to the way he dramatized it in his story.
