Hook loved all aspects of science, of course, one of them being the cell theory, he named the cell by looking at a piece of cork under his microscope. The cell name comes from cells a room where monks slept in their monasteries. Once newton resisted his theory of gravity Hooke claimed that it was his idea, this marking the beginning of his rivalry, Newton then destroyed all evidence of the existence of Hooke so now no one knows how he looked like.

Schleiden was a botanist who studied plants under the microsope, after years of research he came to the conclucion that all plants were made of cells. Around the time Schwann, who studied animal cells and invented rebreathers for fire fighters, he came to the conclution that all animals were made of cells. Together they invented the cell theory.
