They have been presented with all the evidence. Most jurors seem confident to say that the boy is guilty, but for Juror #8 there is room for reasonable doubt, so he begins talking and acknowledge the view of those around the table. Through argumentation and eye-opening ideas he clearly gets some jurors thinking. By the end of the first round of jurors explaining their ideas he advises the foreman to take a secret ballot, if he stands alone among the others he will change his vote, if not, they keep talking.
The foreman reads the ballot and realises there is one more “not guilty” vote. So they keep talking
12 angry men explores studies of how mean affects people’s behaviour and their choices on what to believe.
