         <description><![CDATA[<div>My area is Special Education.&nbsp; I have collaborated in every content area at some point; however, my main focus has been English and Social Studies.&nbsp; These are a few skills I feel are important to each.<br>-being able to read/comprehend information and then synthesize the information that has been given.&nbsp; Special Education students often need help doing these skills.&nbsp; This assistance may come in the form of breaking information down into smaller sections, frequent questioning for comprehension/understanding, and skills for synthesizing the information on their own such as: summarizing, inferring, and formulating questions they may still have.<br>-being able to formulate their own opinion about what they read and communicate those opinions with textual evidence to back up their thinking.<br>-locating and using textual evidence to aid in their ability to apply their learning.<br>Treena Burdette</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Important skills in regards to my discipline include the following:&nbsp;<br><br>I travel to three different schools and work with ML/EL students from grades K-12. They are all on different English language levels. Teaching vocabulary and vocabulary knowledge is number 1 when working with my students. Newcomber ML/ELs can learn the vocabulary word and we can look at pictures and visual organizers. More advanced ML/EL students can dive in deeper looking at prefixes, suffixes, root words. Students with higher level English language proficiency levels have the background knowledge to put theirselves in a historian, scientists, etc. shoes and look through the lense that they may viewing from.</div>]]></description>
