I can talk about my topic to my husband who doesn't understand much about it and suddenly I have an idea. Something about voicing my problem out loud helps me to see possibilites for writing.

I always get stuck on transitions and making smooth connections between ideas. It's usually something I focus on when revising my draft. It helps when I have a fresh eye to look over my paper. I've also found that when i don't feel like writing or my ideas are blocked I just need to walk away come back to it the next day. I'm usually more in the mood to write and in a better frame of mind.
I had to write a literature review over the summer and I found that organizing my quotes from my sources really helped. I organize them under main headings, ideas so when I go to write all the quotes on one idea are grouped together so I can easily find what I'm looking for.

Since I have not written a graduate level academic paper for about 9 years :/, I am honestly pretty intimidated by this assignment! However, after last week’s overview on academic language, and after studying multiple academic models throughout the semester, as well as having the chapters that guide us through it, I do feel like I have a better idea of what I am doing, and feel more equipped than I ever have before. Generally when writing, the toughest part for me is the intro and conclusion. I deliberate over those the most- particularly the intro. I look forward to hearing all the great tips you veteran academic writers have!

I typically get stuck during the drafting phase of writing. Once research is finished, I can make connections between the writings fairly easily. However, putting those connections into words is sometimes challenging. The connections make sense in my head, but then when I go to write them down or communicate them I don't feel as thought my communication is as clear as it is in my head. It is also difficult for me to motivate myself to work on the assignment in chunks. I am a textbook procrastinator and it tends to work out well for me. I am working on breaking tasks down into more manageable pieces. For example, I will try to set a goal for myself this week to just finish one section of the paper at a time so I'm only thinking about one facet of the project, not all of them.

I feel very ready to write this paper I just haven't found it in me to START it!!! I dedicated this whole day to getting my paper started and a good chunk worked on, but I ended up doing everything else I needed to do and still haven't started the paper. Anyone have good tips for just diving into it!? This is always something I struggle with. I think the anxiety of doing it is what makes me freeze and just not do anything.

Sometimes I get stuck on the first draft, and it feels like I'm floating. I have a tendency to procrastinate- not because I'm not interested in what I'm researching, but, I always have something that is more important. I usually start off well, and then fall flat. It helps to have deadlines that others set for me. I have seen others who also struggle with the start, and that's where I am! I have never enjoyed doing research projects, but I am enamored with the idea of them. I usually just have to swallow whatever gets stuck in my throat and I sit down and do it. That's where I am right now.

I definitely get stuck on the literature review and research! Sometimes I find information that makes sense to me in one paper, but then I find something similar in another paper. They may sometimes be the same information but worded differently or slightly different information. Whatever the case, I usually end up getting very confused. I feel like I have to clarify the information so when this happens, I kind of end up going on a wild goose chase for more information just to clarify the original two points of information, mostly because I don't want to be writing inaccurate information in my paper. The question I kind of struggle with: At what point can I or should I stop myself from delving more into other research?
