Technical problems should be addressed and planned for before they happen, and backup forms of communication should be established. It is also helpful to provide requirements for people to communicate in advance, because it’s vital that everyone becomes comfortable with the process of emailing, chatting, and so on.

Instructors should pay special attention which students participate and which ones don’t. Those who neglect to interact should be contacted to make sure that the technology was working properly for them and that they were able to understand the lesson. Otherwise, there may be students that don’t speak up until the end of the course when there’s little that can be done.

Above all, regardless of the method of interaction, instructors should be reminded that this is still a class of people learning from each other, just like any other class. Effort should be made to learn as much as possible about everyone’s experiences, backgrounds, learning styles, and what they want to get out of the class, and the activities and lessons need to reflect that.

ODL makes it difficult to keep tabs on whether your students are actually working.

2. I think almost all of the participants are in the same boat. We have the same concerns and perhaps   the same questions in our minds on how to will deal with this new normal.  But, I am interested to find out the system on how other schools prepare their teachers, learners and parents.

Aside from the parents, we should also try to ask them about their day, what were they doing during the break or to simply establish a teacher-student relationship to know more of their situation, capabilities and limitations in order to provide flexible activites that will be appropriate to them. 

- it is important to establish an online teacher-student relationship & promote student-student interactions (physical distancing, not social distancing)

- Quoting Ms. Winnie Diola,"It is not just about the delivery of content through online platforms or providing technology rich activities, it is all about having a well-intended learning plans to provide choice, flexibility and create meaningful engagements with students." 

- ODL promotes creativity and flexibility to both teachers and students

-We can learn a lot from each other by sharing our insights in every activity.

Different strategies to be implemented to make ODL successful. 

1 Question 

How can we make a differentiated instruction to struggling learners if majority of your students are fast learners in the ODL? How are they going to learn the same with the fast learners? I need some suggestions or recommendations.

I want to explore different learning tools and effective virtual learning platforms for my students. As mentioned in the playlist, there are limitations that may hinder in the effectiveness of these strategies. I think parent support is the most important aspect that we have to deal with.

Optimize learning resources and add some teacher’s experiences to make every topic engaging.

3-  Equity for both teachers and students in terms of digital skills and technological skills is important in ODL.  

Just like parents supporting their children in schooling, teachers must be supported by the school especially during this new normal. 

Teachers should plan well and allot more time in adjusting herself/himself in the situation. As teachers, we have to be prepared and we have to adapt.

2- the use of the different digital platforms in teaching science

and how useful is the 5Es in making learning and teaching more meaningful and relevant to teachers and students. 

I found it very interesting to learn more platforms to address the needs of the learners and the challenge of making ODL effective given the lack of trainings.
