Even their livestock has been affected, and little by little they start to die due to malnutrition. Every year Africa loses about 1.2 million acres. It seems that their major issue and cause of desertification was by fire.

The degradation was followed by the drought as people began over farming the soil. I will focus on Middle Eastern/Mediterranean regions and their regional collaborations to sustain their agriculture. I want to research this because I learned through research that most of the people can't depend on simple agricultural produce as they can't grow anything on their land. Most importantly it feels almost helpless since it can't rain too much because their land would sustain the water. Nor can't be too dry as the soil won't have any nutrients for the roots. If you really think about the issue not only it affects certain people, but everything and everyone that lives upon the land.

https://www.iemed.org/publication/desertification-in-the-mediterranean-region/
