Childhood

I have 2 sisters and 1 brother. Growing up, I was really close to my brother but not as much to my sisters. Both of my sisters were in college when I was growing up, so I didn't get to see them much. Me and my brother are 4 years apart, so I grew up next to him. I was really close with him and learned a lot from him.

Elementary school

In elementary school I met a lot of new friends and people that I got super close with. In kindergarten, I met my best friend. He ended up being my neighbor, and we grew up together. Starting in elementary school was my first introduction to school. Being new to learning came with some challenges.

Middle School

Starting middle school, I went to a new building with a lot more people. I made friends with people who didn't go to my elementary school. This is also when school sports started for me. Going from elementary school to middle school was difficult. There were a lot more people, and the classes got significantly harder. With the increased difficulty in school and the start of school sports it made me have to value my time more. I had a lot of homework and a lot of practices.

High School

I went to Highland Park High School. Here I kind of knew the friends I had and who I was hanging out with. I also had new classes and a lot more practice with high school sports. I loved it though. My sophomore year of high school, I made the varsity baseball team. This allowed me to play with older people and against people who were already knowing where they were going to play baseball. This gave me a lot of exposure, which allowed me to pursue my dreams into playing college baseball.

Baseball

Going into eighth grade, I decided to quit basketball so I could focus on baseball. I still played football, but my main priority was baseball. It was really hard to quit basketball because I loved it and I loved the friends I had made. When I quit, I grew apart from the friends I had made, which was very hard. This was the right decision, though, as I had more potential in my baseball career. When I got more serious in baseball and started to play on travel teams, I met a lot of people and faced better competition that made me better.

Sports

Same time during elementary, I started my career in sports. I played baseball, football, and basketball. During this, I learned a lot about working at something and working with a team. I met a lot of people and started to make friends with people on my teams. This taught me at a young age to balance school, sports, family, and friends.

COVID

During the end of eighth grade, COVID happened. School got moved to online, and we had to start learning without face-to-face communication with our teachers. This made it very hard because I am a better learner when I am face-to-face. This also affected my athletic life. We had to be causious so people wouldn't get sick, and we had to play with masks on. COVID taught me a lot and made me learn to adpat how I live.

College

High Point University has changed my life. I had to learn to live on my own with random people I had just met. It brought me so many new relationships and friendships that will last forever. Classes in college are also a lot harder than high school. There's a lot more work that takes a lot of time to do. Playing baseball in college is also very different than playing in high school. The practices and days are much harder and longer. The longer practices and more school has taught me time management and has allowed me to grow as a person.
