Just one more click, she knew, and that would be the click that led to Shu Ling.¨ (Peacock 132)

Zhang Wen is the protagonist of this story. She is an 11 year old, Chinese adopted orphan. Her mother left her at the gate of the orphanage as a baby, but her new adoptive family is loving her unconditionally.
She is the most hopeful child I have ever read about. Her perseverance is also what makes her a very unique character. When times got tough she pushed through to get Shu Ling to America.

The beginning of the book confused me a lot, but when the author explained more about Wen and Shu Ling's lives I understood more. They never gave up on one day being able to see each other. I loved when Wen bonded with the new girl at her new school. Hannah, the girl from school, knew Wen's feelings of missing her friend because her parents divorced, and her father never came back to see her.
I recomend this book to anyone who feels like quitting or giving up. This little girl never lost hope. She is a true inspiration.
