Let's brain dump as many things as we can from our session with him yesterday. Put down things he said about poems, craft, his background. What did we learn? What new questions do we have?

I learned that he is working on a new book that will hopefully be finished in 2020. Also, when he uses enjambment, he usually ends on a verb. I was also surprised to hear that "Southern Silence" almost didn''t make the book, but did after his professors pushed him to. Also he said that he receives some backlash from the line about God and Mary on social media. He also said that he didn't mind this as it can be a good thing. He also said that part 1 is when he under water and part 2 is when he comes up for air and shares his thoughts and emotions with no guard.

The title ¨Greens¨ was simply a reference to collared greens, and didn´t have much more meaning regarding himself or the character. The title was more to go along with the southern setting. The best thing about the video conference was it was very humanizing; the worst thing about the conference call was it was very humanizing.

He talked about why his collection River Hymns is divided into two sections. The first section, I. were poems more rooted in his childhood and seeing things from the perspective of a child. The second section, II, represents a more mature and questioning perspective. Maybe the older and more mature you get, the more questions you have and the more you realize you don't know.
