It's about a Navajo girl called Nizhoni whose dad was kidnapped by a monster. She goes with her brother Mac and her best friend Davey to go along the rainbow road to the house to the sun to get weapons to defeat the monsters and save her dad. Along the  road there are a few trails that Nizhoni has to face. My favorite book I've read this year is Race to the Sun. My groups Explorer was Jacques Cartier. 

-He explored from 1534-1542
-France sponsered his journey.
-The place he explored was the Canadian coast.
-The goal of the expedition was to find the Northwest Passage and to find gold and spices.
-The result was that Cartier had to turn back because he had angered the Iroquois and the winter was too cold. He achieved trading fur with the Native Americans and tobacco trade with Jamestown.
- The Importance of the expedition was that Jacques had found the Quebec area.

Here are some interesting facts
-Jacques was born in 1491.
-He discovered prince Edward island.
-Cartier took 21 days to sail across the Atlantic and reach Canada.
