He was one of the most notorious robber barons of  the 19th century by exerting tight control over the oil industry in america. After he was done with high school in Cleveland he started attending a college he began working at the age of 16 he worked as a clerk in a produce business. In 1870 he organized the oil company with other workers and they formed what is called the oil company.
