I believe that therapy is great and there is too much of a stigma around it being "bad" or like people have "problems" when they go to therapy. I believe that even if you do not have a psychological illness, you should still go to therapy sometime in your life. I think that society's view of therapy has changed over the years a lot. I think that therapy used to be even more stigmatized than it is now, and although it is still stigmatized it has gotten a lot more normalized over the years. Psychotherapies are different from biomedical therapies because biomedical therapies can perscribe meds while psychotherapy is more about working with your thoughts and feelings. The goals of psychoanalytic/psychodynamic therapies are to dive deep into your past trauma and see what is causing the anxiety that is "under the iceberg". The themes of humanistic therapy is active listening, insight therapy, and client centered therapy.

1. I think therapy can be very effective. While I don't think it should always be the primary solution to a problem, from what I've heard, it normally helps patients feel better about themselves, learn reasons for their problems, and learn ways they can reduce some of their problems. The only problem with therapy is that the person receiving therapy needs to be willing to help themselves before going.
2. Society used to view therapy as something embarrassing and made it seem like asking for help showed weakness. Nowadays, society has made it more normal for people who aren't "crazy" to go to therapy.
3. Psychotherapies are different from biomedical therapies because a psychiatrist is trying to teach you to do things helpful in solving problems or worries. On the other hand, biomedical therapy is trying to help people with prescriptions for medication.
4. Psychodynamic therapy's goal is to uncover unconscious thoughts. Psychoanalytic therapy is similar, but involves Freud's ideology.
5. Humanistic therapy involves looking out for one's own wellbeing by working on one's self growth and personal awareness.

1. I think therapy is a way for people to let out their emotions and to speak to someone if they are struggling. Society's viewpoint of therapy has changed to a more positive impact because we are now seeing the benefits of getting help and how it is important for almost everyone to do. Psychotherapy is a psychological treatment that employs various methods to help someone overcome personal problems or to attain personal growth. Biomedical therapy involves medication and/or medical procedures to treat psychological disorders. Psychodynamic therapy focuses on unconscious processes as they are manifested in the client's present behavior. This type of therapy helps with self awareness. Humanistic therapy focuses on clients conscious feelings and on their taking responsibility for their own growth. Client-centered therapists use active listening to express genuineness, acceptance, and empathy.

I think therapy can be a really good outlet for people to talk about their emotions and get professional feedback and support on what they might be going through. I think society has made therapy out to be for people that have something "wrong with them" or they are mentally ill. I don't think that is necessarily true, I think everyone can benefit from therapy even if you are mentally stable and healthy. The difference between psychotherapy and biomedical therapy is one uses various methods to help someone overcome what they are going through, while the other uses medications or medical treatments as a mechanism to help.
