•I was very anxious before our presentation because I hadn’t done a power point presentation in a very long time.

•I was a little confident because it was a group project so I had people to rely on and it felt less stressful.

•I feel that we had covered everything we spoke about, we spoke loud and clear and I managed to say everything I rehearsed.

•I think I could have memorised some of the things I was talking about and maybe been a bit more presenting

•I would definitely bring notes in of what I was going to talk about on my slide.

•I was a bit worried about our second song (Long Shot) because it was the song we had rehearsed the least’ but I think it went really well.

•I was confident with us playing our first and last song because we knew them and rehearsed them for a few weeks.

•I think our timing was really well and we all kept in sync with each other.

•I think i should had rehearsed the second song (Long Shot) enough to know it off by heart.

•I would play the setlist without needing sheet music and listen to the rest of the band besides just me.

.I managed to create the song I wanted to make, besides it being a bit of a challenge for me.

I decided to not have vocals in my song because I preferred it being instrumental.

I learned how to use Logic Pro and record instruments.

I would maybe add more instruments and arrange the song I bit better.

My Plan

I'm going to focus on the background noises to begin with as I can tell and see there is a lot happening in terms of noise, then I will create some music that I feel sounds good for this piece. The scene is very mysterious and so mysterious and perhaps spooky music will sound good for this piece.

Im going to add a lot of background noises such as the clock ticking, people leaving behind camera, sounds of the printer and its buttons being pushed, to add more authenticity to the scene. I might add something for the black hole piece of paper as it is the main theme, some mysterious sound because it is beyond this world perhaps an alien ?

What songs we worked on: we got the interlude and solo section of the song Sweet child O mine done. I improved on memorising my chords and timing for that section. The solo section was a little tricky as it changes the tempo at rhythm but i have been improving at home and with the band.

We improved a lot on sk8ter Boi i memorised my notes better than last weeks rehearsal.

in the bridge i was having trouble keeping in time as it changes the rhythm in the song but i have been practicing at home playing along the backing track and getting better.

Anna has been taking charge of the band and has been very helpful keeping things in shape and all of our instruments.

i have been focusing on making the piano stand out playing parts an octave higher to sound unique and clean.

We came up with chords on the piano (it is in the key of Db) it is in 8ths and has four chords Db, Ab, Gb, Fm

we were working on the intro first verse and then chorus with Alex And Nadia coming in after a small intro along with the guitars (Kieran, AJ) and (Sophie) bass.

we decided to add another chord for the chorus to change up the melody a bit.

Did you achieve what you set out to do: yes I managed to create the sound I wanted fro the scene we were given

what did you change from your original plan and why ?: I decided to not use as many instruments as I thought that it didn't need to many and so I decided to keep it with little but affective instruments and sounds.

What new skills did you learn during the project ?: I learnt how to add more noises rather than just instruments to make it more realistic and spooky.

what did you feel worked well in your submissions ?: I think the music was really well it fitted the scene the sound effects was the icing on the cake because it added more feel and tone.

what would you do differently next time ?: I would add more noises\sound effects and maybe a bit more instruments as this piece doesn't have a lot.

How did you work as a group to write and develop the song: we worked really well we sat down Alex had some lyrics and we came up with some chords on the piano, and we made a song called Circles AJ had a cool strumming pattern on the acoustic, Sophie had come up with a cool bass line, Kieron was using power chords to give it a slight rock sound, Nadia and Alex were harmonizing in sync and I was playing keys. But we decided to go with the other groups song because they had a full song.

what challenges did you encounter and how did you overcome them: it was tricky working out the tempo for the song we had the words and the chords but was a challenge figuring out the tempo and how many bpm we wanted.

how did you personally contribute to the song writing and development process: I sat at the piano and came up a small chord progression with the lyrics that Alex had written and we went from there.

what did you learn about song writing during the process: I learnt about collaborating with other song writers to create a song as I am used to writing on my own and it was a great experience.

I was a bit nervous for our first song as I didn’t 100% know the rhythm of the song but I think I did pretty well.

For Sk8ter Boi I was very confident because I rehearsed it enough both at college and at home to play without sheet music and I think it was personally our best song

For Sweet Child O Mine I think it was great maybe next time add something bit more interesting on the piano but side from that I think it went really well

We were finishing up on sweet child of mine and got the last few bits done (solos and outro).

We got sk8ter boi done and we sounded really good I managed to memorise both songs without sheet music at that point.

With our original I was a bit nervous because by then I was practicing my groups song Circles but we decided on the other groups song Come With Me and so I had to get used to a new song but i was fine with that I was just a bit anxious but nonetheless I think we did pretty well. For my idea I decided to play the keys an octave higher to stand out a bit I thought of a small piano intro but unfortunately I wasn’t confident enough.

I will be performing this song solo on the Piano (My Main Instrument) along with providing vocals.

Research:

I decided to do this song because I am a big fan of Oasis and loved learning there songs on guitar.

With Piano being my main instrument I decided to challenge myself in learning this song on the keys and though it was difficult i thought it delivered a better impact on this song more emotion and a completely different style to this piece.

I decided to provide vocals because I also enjoy singing and I have a passion to play and sing at the same time. This was a big step up because playing piano and singing has always been a struggle particularly with timing and so I have been rehearsing my piece to get it spot on and hopefully will be a great performance.

I managed to compress use volume, pan, and EQ on the instruments in the song I picked for project 3.

The song involves a lot of instruments including brass, percussion, strings, and vocals.

personally I couldn't hear some certain instruments in the song for example the acoustics were very quiet so I added more volume and pan to them.

after the acoustics I noticed they were blocking out everything else so using my ears and compression skills I added volume, pan to most instruments evening them out and finally compressed the whole song to make it balance out and sound clear.

the guitar solo was a bit tricky because as a lead part in the song I had to make it stand out but not block out the other instruments, I had a listen a few times but after panning the lead guitar and other instruments it sounded better and even.

I used the EQ on most channels and then compressed 4 channels the lead guitar the drums, acoustics and vocals.

we have been discussing our setlist on what we will be starting on and what we will end our gig on. 2 of our songs are half a step down and so we need to find a good moment for the guitar & bass players to tune there guitars down.

our rehearsals have been going well we had a chat about swapping in and removing songs as few of our songs are 4-5 minutes long and we get 20mins for our gig.

As the keyboard player I tend to split my ears on two things the drummer and the vocalists as I am playing the chords to the songs and the drummer helps to keep me in time and the vocalists help me to know where we are in the song.

so far our best song is sk8ter boi, I feel we need to rehearse the other songs as we are still learning and getting used to the other songs on our setlist. We nearly have Sweet child o mine in the bag we just need to improve on vocal harmonies and the guitar solos.

we have just begun rehearsing Mr Brightside and don't look back in anger I feel we need to work on the timing of both songs and I need to get used to the chord progression and timing.

what did you change from your original plan and why: my original plan was to stick to the middle keys of the piano but during the performance i improvised and began using different octaves to make the piece more interesting and all in all better.

what new skills did you learn during the performance: I learned to keep my tempo especially when playing and singing and to always look at the audience and don't keep your head down.

what did you feel worked well in your performance: i thought my volume was spot on i haven't ever sang and played piano to a live audience before and it felt like they could hear me and the piano equally. i thought my piano playing went good i missed a few wrong notes but kept my focus and instantly moved on to the next chord.

what would you do differently next time: i would perhaps not head butt the mic as it took me off guard and focus. i would pay a bit more attention to my vocals and distance between myself and the mic, and finally improve my timing so that i can get it spot on next time.

Been improving on Sweet child of mine, solos and outro have been getting more in time and great energy, vocalists have been harmonising well in the choruses.

Vocalists have decided to harmonise Don’t Look Back In Anger, myself and Cayden and the rest of the band have agreed to do the live at Knebworth version with piano and guitar both playing the opening chords

And have been getting better at timing.

Rehearsal went okay was a bit of a struggle because there’s so many of us so it gets a bit cramped but nonetheless we got all our songs done.

Vocalists been improving a lot on harmonies particularly with Scom, sk8ter boi and Dlbia.

I recently decided to use synth on sk8ter boi and Mr Brightside as it gives a more pop vibe and more appropriate to the songs.

I think I need to practice Mr Brightside a little more especially on timing then it’s finished.

Back from a 2 week break and we got most songs now in the bag rehearsal went really really well. Bit of a shaky start as we hadn’t played together in 2 weeks. Rory was off so we didn’t have a bass player today. Harmonies are improving along with the guitarists and keys synchronising all with drums, just 1 or 2 more rehearsals and we’ll be awesome

Today we mastered our volumes and kept it even enough to hear everyone. Guitars (Ellis, Cayden) had their guitars just right for their solos.

Vocalists were spot on and are improving with there harmonies myself and Dez are keeping in sync with keys and drums.
