I learned that taking photos of animals is very difficult, especially when the animals are shy.

When i was in the forest, it was hard to find a really huge animals, especially mammals. The most i can found were insects which are really abundant in the forest. The other animals would escape when they sense some 'coming threats', especially when more people enter the forest, the more 'invincible' they are. 
It was really difficult to capture a picture with under-exposed light too. The canopy of the forest had block the penetration of light reaches the forest floor, so it had to adjust the shutter speed and aperture a lot to take a better picture. 
It was also hard to take the small insects using a camera without a good focusing gear. As the size of insects were too small, i had to stay close to the subject and sometimes the subject would fly away before shooting.

This is because for wildlife photography we should wait for the animals, insects, frogs and so on. We can't control them as photographers for the wedding do. Instead of that, we should react to their actions. For instance, we can't make noise and should wait patiently. I also learnt that we should have photography knowledge before having a trip like this. This is because we should change the right camera mode on the spot according to the environment. At last, that field trip inspired me to go for more parks to see and capture more photos of other insects, frogs and animals.

First, the wildlife animal is very hard to find. And it is not easy to take a good picture even when you find one. The lighting is so hard to setup and yet we have limitation of time since the animal might run. So, the best thing that we need to do is we know the habitat of the animal. When will it come out. What it is sound like. So that we can find the animal with direction. Second, i have been more concern with wildlife when i saw them frighten after see a crowd coming to take their picture (frog). Third is patients. We really need a high patient in order to produce a good picture and waiting the animal to come out. And do not ever give up to search the animal. Focus is so important . Sometimes the animal are in front of us but we need to SEE and SEARCH it carefully, since they can camouflage.

Next, we are encouraged to understand their behaviours especially the sign when they feel threaten or stress so that we know the limitation of the action we did toward the animals.

Definitely a good experience and surely would love to come again in the future! Things I learnt from the trip include, it is vital being ready for the weather changes as it influences the light intensity while photographing the wildlife. As for this trip, it definitely rained. Therefore, extra protection for the gears is needed. One should be mentally ready to tackle the challenges and disappointments that might come in the way. The challenges present are: wildlife is not easy to find, some of them fly or move at quite a fast pace which make the shooting process harder. Disappointments include: not being able to find an interesting subject to photograph, and missing the moment resulting from the failure to focus the subject at the right moment. Also, being physically prepared is important as the trip needs stamina and energy; not to lose patience while energy level is running low in search for interesting subject to be shot. Finding wildlife in a group of a few people definitely makes the finding harder as the group movements may disrupt the wildlife and scare them away.

“What’s so hard about taking the shot?” It’s common to think that it is easy to photograph wildlife. Until one has experienced that it’s absolutely not like any portrait session in which one have the chance to ask the model to pose accordingly. Wildlife has specific habitats and hiding places. Unless one understand perfectly about the location, wandering around won’t help much to find the subject. The adaptation to the changes in surrounding is definitely a bonus for a wildlife shooter as we can’t predict external factors such as the weather, wildlife’s hiding places and also the light intensity in certain areas. Also, one might use up the energy while doing all the hiking and lost interest or patience in finding the subject. Aside from that, it’s essential to sense the wildlife’s mood while doing the shooting. I think it’s important in the first place for them to be in their natural, comfortable state in order for us to have the good shot.

Knowing the camera/gear limitations and settings also help in term of ease of use for the shoot. Overall it has been a really good experience. Looking forward to improve!

1. Dalam trip ke Kubah , mencari objek untuk digambar adalah tidak mudah kerana tanpa ada objek(hidupan liar), sudah semestinya tidak dapat menghasilkan wildlife photography. 
2. Saya mula mempraktikkan teori di dalam kelas iaitu menukar settings kamera dengan kadar segera sebelum haiwan/serangga tersebut melarikan diri.
3. Untuk mendapatkan gambar hidupan liar memerlukan stamina badan yang kuat kerana kita memerlukannya untuk mencari hidupan liar di dalam hutan.
