 In this paper, we present an exploratory study aimed at understanding if an avatar-based touchless gestural interface is able to foster interest towards digital representations of artworks, e.g. paintings or sculptures usually exhibited in museums, and to make them more accessible for such people. In particular, the study involved three autistic people and a therapist, and allowed us to report the potential of an avatar to communicate the interactivity and stimulate interaction with just a few directions to start, or not at all

 In this paper, we focus our investigation on a visual interface based only on the use of in-air direct manipulations. Our study aims at evaluating whether and how the presence of an Avatar that replays user's movements may decrease the perceived cognitive workload during interactions. Moreover, we conducted a brief evaluation of the relationship between the presence of the Avatar and the use of one or two hands during the interactions.

 Currently there exists an advanced and natural form of interaction, named gesture-based interaction. It has been applied in some fields successfully, especially in the form of game applications. Although people are filled with wonder at the new interaction, it has not replaced the traditional interaction, like keyboard and mouse. From the user experience point of view, gesture-based interaction has advantages which traditional interactive form cannot offer, but also shortcomings which people seem dissatisfied with. This thesis focuses on expressing user experience of gesture-based interaction by conducting interview method.

Description:
This paper presents the design implementation by discussing the various sub-systems involved, inter system communication, and field tests to ascertain operation. As presented from testing results, the proposed system provides efficient communication between the subsystems for smooth flight control, while allowing for safe transport of portable objects.
