Scarcity: The lack of resources; in this case: resources that can sustain human life- food, water, (clean) air, building materials for shelter, etc.

In our growing society, it has been observed by many countries, especially poor countries, that the Earth's human population is growing faster than the Earth can handle, and the Earth is unable to generate enough resources at the same rate of which the people are consuming the resources. (1/2)

This is not inherently a bad thing. The fact that so many infants are living as opposed to the amount of infant deaths way-back-when is an accomplishment for humans on its own.

No it is not inherently a bad thing but for the sake of our species survival in our modern life, it's not ideal.

The average (adult) human needs to consume 1,500-2,000 calories per day to survive. That's ~547,500 to ~730,000 calories per year.

The average person consumes 12 tonnes of natural resources each day.

In a year, we extract 90 million tonnes of natural resources from our planet.

The point of these irrationally long slides/notes was to give a brief overview of our standing in the overpopulation crisis on Earth.

In the following slides/notes, we will go over a timeline to 'solve' or better yet, mediate, the crisis.

Reforming entire governments is not the goal here though, just reforming some of the policies within those governments.

1. The Education of women and girls- Around the world and mostly in developing countries, many, many, women and girls don't have a good education. In our modern times it's crucial that everyone to have an education, as being even minimally educated can get you places. Many women and girls in developing countries deal with the stress of societal expectations of growing up to be a wife and mother, as well as the head of the household next to her husband. Lots of them are in school, but their not so easily able to keep up with tasks at home and at school itself.

2. Increasing the use and the improvement of family planning- Contraception is the practice of using methods like using birth control to not have children. Many people don't use contraception and that is a leading factor in overpopulation. People don't need to use contraception but in order for us to sustain ourselves without going extinct, one way we can mitigate overpopulation is with the help of family planning. Family planning is the practice of controlling the amount of births in a family and how far apart those births are.

3. The Implementation of better agriculture- Agriculture is very important to our lives; it produces food and also jobs which in turn produces money, something that many people need. By bettering the ways we do agriculture, we can give more people jobs so they can have more money and also more food. With more money comes more education. And so on with more and better education repeats the cycle of upgrading or increasing agriculture, food and money.

1. The Reform of Feminine Education- This reform will help women and girls in developing countries have access to education alongside their regular duties at home.

2. The Protocol for Family Planning and Assistance- Many people live in large families or in places where its expected to have a large family. By assisting families with many kids or helping others plan for however many kids they want, we can help slow down the threat that overpopulation faces us with.

3. The Better Agriculture System- As said before, agriculture produces jobs, money and food. By upgrading our agriculture practices, we can multiply all of those benefits by miles!

Mind you, when we say 'solving or mediating the problem of overpopulation' we mean, making it so that the Earth is not burdened with caring for billions upon billions of people with very little resources. Solving the problem of overpopulation means declining the rate of birth in certain countries while also helping generate more wealth in those countries and more by providing jobs, bettering education, upgrading our energy structures, etc.
