How it's made:
Rayon is made by purified cellulose which are put into sodium hydroxide. The sheets are dried and turned into crumbs. they are then turned into a liquid carbon disulfide. They are then put into a viscose solution which turns into a string of fibers. They finally bathe it in acid and turn it into yarn.
Impact on society:
It's made from wood pulp, however, for the wood pulp to become a fabric, it's treated with hazardous chemicals.
Check top left corner for picture.

Developed in the 20th-century, polyester fibers are by a chemical reaction between an acid and alcohol. In this reaction, two or more molecules combine to make a large molecule whose structure repeats throughout its length. Polyester fibers can form very long molecules that are very stable and strong.

Polyester is used to make PET bottles and nylon rope because of its strength. In the 1970, polyester suits were in strong demand because it was appreciated for its strength and comfortness.

How it's made: In a commercial glass plant, sand is mixed with waste glass (from recycling collections), soda ash (sodium carbonate), and limestone (calcium carbonate) and heated in a furnace. The soda reduces the sand's melting point, which helps to save energy during manufacture, but it has an unfortunate drawback: it produces a kind of glass that would dissolve in water! The limestone is added to stop that happening. The end-product is called soda-lime-silica glass.

Effect on Society:

The major environmental impact of glass production is caused by atmospheric emissions from melting activities:
