Among the most recent migratory movements we highlight that they happened for reasons related to the economic transformations of the country and the recession that affects the economy as a whole; which implies mobilities at shorter distances (border migrations); where the factors of such behavior have to do with a purely material function (income); social acceptance, cultural behavior, language, etc.

Although also and for the most part Argentine migrants are heading towards more developed countries; that is, central countries (Europe, USA)The most direct economic factors are devaluation; the opening of certain markets; the growth of cross-border migration flows and with it, easy smuggling.

In recent years, immigration has become a very delicate social and political problem, often creating a feeling of "migratory psychosis" that has resulted in numerous occasions in lamentable manifestations of rejection and xenophobia. Some 120 million people live outside their country of origin.

Argentina has always been a country of migration of all types and of any country. In the past, this situation was fully accepted by society; but at present it seems that this fact is reversing. Many people blame immigrants for lack of work; and others simply discriminate them.

Currently, migration occurs as a function of the imbalance between countries of origin and recipients; it comes from countries with economies in recession and has, basically, the characteristics of low-skilled labor.

The recent migration is basically made up of bordering or Latin American migrants; that part of a social phenomenon linked to poverty.

Argentina has traditionally been a country that receives a migrant population. Both the populations that came from Europe, as well as the Latin American ones, always represented a positive contribution to overcome the cyclical maladjustments of the labor market. On the other hand, there were attacks on members of the Bolivian community by the Argentines. The reiteration of these cases has already provoked the reaction of the Bolivian community of quinteros, whose members decided to arm themselves to face the wave of racist attacks they have been suffering. This shows that many times society does not finish adapting to recent migration and that it can not fully accept these societies either.

Official studies show that immigrants do not affect unemployment. There are many who say that immigrants from neighboring countries are responsible for the lack of work in the country. Official studies show that the incidence of these groups in the indices of employment provided by INDEC are minimal. On the other hand, the work they do is highly precarious and the legislation, put into effect at the time of the dictatorship, leaves them clearly helpless.
The origins of the migrations to Argentina were especially Italian and Spanish. Currently, discrimination against immigrants is being addressed, in part by trying to question the myth of the crucible of races. By extension it refers only to modern migrants from neighboring countries, while Argentines today do so to Europe and the US, in search of a better destination
