Book: A Dog's Purpose
1) Bailey was first born as a stray mutt. After a short life, he was born as a dog again. Then, he meets the perfect owner for him, eight-year old Ethan! However, Bailey's journey was not over yet. Reborn as a puppy again, Bailey wonders if he will ever find his purpose...
2) I learnt that dogs can play a meaningful part in our lives. they can even be at our side even when we don't realise that. The bond between humans and dogs may be more complex and deeper than we think. We should care for these animals and shower them with love. Only then, they will do the same to us.
3) I have always liked dogs and thought this book would be very interesting. After all, the saying goes "A dog is a man's best friend!"

He had anything he wanted in the world but the people at the posh school didn't like him and often teased him. He then went to a normal school and made a his first ever friend!
2)I learnt that we should not take friendships for granted and not to be so money-minded.
3)It teaches me that friendship and fatherly love cannot be bought with money. This book is very interesting such that when you start reading, you cannot stop reading! I read it in one day and I know you will too!

Book: Winterhouse
1) Elizabeth Somers is a 11-year old bookworm, whose personality sparks the annoyance of some, such as the impoverished Aunt Purdy and Uncle Burlap. Suddenly, things become a blur from the usual mundane school days as Elizabeth finds herself being sent to Winterhouse, befriending Freddy and meeting with some trouble...
Word Count: 50 :p
----------------------------------------------------
2) I have learnt that we should be careful with what we do and how it can negatively affect others, as Norbridge's family did to Gracella, causing her to feel jealousy and resort to destroying Winterhouse.
----------------------------------------------------
3) This book is recommended for children our age as it's story plot is unique compared to the rest. It is also mysterious and sets me on the edge of my seat. It is also traced over with a light sense of humour, so I personally feel there is a great mix. :)
----------------------------------------------------
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) by Clarice

Book: Animal Farm by George Orwell
1) Summary
The animals on Manor Farm kicked the farmer, Mr Jones, out and gained independence. One important rule - do not communicate with humans. Soon, the pigs are elected leaders and they start to take over the farm, break the rules, and say that the rules do not apply to them.
Word Count: 49 words
2) Learning points
Everyone is equal. When the pigs say "all animals are equal but some animals are more equal then others", it is not correct. This book reminds me of North Korea in a real-world context. Animal Farm is an Orwellian classic, which depicts a dystopian world. In North Korea, a communist country, if you oppose the leader, you will lose your life. In Singapore, we are very fortunate as we live in a democracy. Thus, we should be grateful.
3) Reasons
This book is one of my favourite classics and I can guarantee that you will be hooked the moment you read the first page.

When Jacob was younger, Grandpa Portman would tell him stories of his childhood in a children's home, inhabitants presumed dead. But desperate times call for desperate measures...
Word Count: 44 -3-
2) Learning Points
Don't be influenced by what people think just because you assume they are wiser. You know yourself best and believe in yourself. Even if people think you are broken and crazy, maybe they just don't know that you may be special.
3) Reasons
I like this book as Grandpa Portman's past is shrouded in mystery and suspense, and many strange happenings and things have to be solved. She describes the scene and what is happening really well. The plot is interesting and exciting. Although this series is fictional, you can read it as if it is you are put in Sophie's shoes.

Book: Princess Academy - The Forgotten Sisters by Shannon Hale
1) Summary
Miri from Mount Eskel came to Asland, the capital of Danland with her friends and Peder. After a year she was going back to Mount Eskel to approve her betrothal with Peder when she was summoned by King Bjourn. Miri was forced to tutor his three cousins who lived in Lesser Alva. In the end, Miri and the 'cousins' unraveled a much bigger secret.
2) Learning Points
This book teaches us that we have to persevere in the face of difficulty and be brave. Miri had to live in a swamp with creatures that have threatened her life. When she came back to Asland with cousins, war was also about to begin but she remained brave.
3) Reasons
I would recommend this book as it has many twists and turns with a tinge of mystery. The description of the character's feelings is very well written and it is easy to visualize the setting and what is happening in the sce

Book: The Heroes of Olympus-The Mark of Athena
1)
After gathering the elite team of seven demigods, they set out to Rome. However, the journey there is as life threatening as what they hope to accomplish there. How many beatings can The Argo || take? How does the son of the sea god drown? And will Annabeth survive the trials where no one else did?
2) This story shows us regret, joy, friendship, and fear. This book teaches us not to linger in the past, to be selfless and perseverance, bravery, faith, and an unshakable will.
3) I recommend this story, as it is just the right mixture of angst, humor, action, and adventure. This is a book of a series of five. I have picked this, as it is the book where the seven are together the most, and it is interesting to see them interact with each other, ranging from Percy and Jason's part rivalry, part best friend relationship. After all, their fathers fight very often. It was difficult to decide what book to chose, as all of Rick Riordan' s books are masterpieces, but personally, this book stands out to me the most.
