Daniel Stockemer wins the First-Time Voter Award at the 19th Annual International Electoral Awards Symposium

Professor Daniel Stockemer, who holds the Konrad Adenauer Research Chair in Empirical Democracy Studies at the School of Political Studies, has won the First-Time Voter Award at the 19th Annual International Electoral Awards Symposium and Ceremony at Lisbon, Portugal. Organized by the International Centre for Parliamentary Studies (ICPS) and the Portuguese National Electoral Commission, the event brought together leading figures in the world of electoral affairs in a two-day symposium and awards ceremony held on November 15 and 16, 2023.

The First-Time Voter Award, which Stockemer received jointly with Aksel Sundström from the University of Gothenburg, celebrates the winners’ long-standing contributions to youth political participation and youth representation, as well as the publication of the World Age Representation Dataset, the most comprehensive dataset on age representation in national parliaments worldwide. Most of the nominees and awardees for the 12 awards were national or subnational electoral commissions, electoral management bodies or international organizations, such as the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance.

I hope this message finds you well.

I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for the incredible collaboration we had in creating the MBA5545 course for the newly established French MBA program at the University of Ottawa. After nearly seven months of dedicated work, we have successfully developed a course rich in asynchronous components, which would not have been possible without our team's unwavering commitment and expertise.

I must extend special thanks to Sima Vantandoust, Senior Specialist in Educational Development and Digital Learning at the Teaching and Learning Support Service (TLSS). Her exceptional coordination and professionalism were instrumental in bringing this project to fruition. Working with her on both MBA5545 and our previous course, MEM5241, has been a true pleasure, and I eagerly look forward to future collaborations.

Additionally, I want to acknowledge the contributions of Jennifer Yaya Falanga, who skillfully recorded the videos at the studio, the language revision specialists who ensured the quality of our content, and all other education and content specialists at TLSS. Their efforts were crucial to our success.

While we have reached a significant milestone, our work is just beginning. There will undoubtedly be a need for fine-tuning and corrections, and I want to assure you of my unwavering commitment to making this course the best it can be. I remain available to assist in any way necessary.

Thank you once again for your support and collaboration. I am truly excited about the positive impact our work will have on the students and the broader academic community. It's this potential that inspires me to continue our efforts.
