  • Leadership and management. Because CEOs are responsible for directing a company’s workers, they must feel confident to be a leader. They should be comfortable with all of the responsibilities of a leader.
  • Communication. Executives create goals for their company and give jobs to others. They should be able to explain their goals clearly and effectively. They should also be comfortable speaking in public in front of large groups, in presentations and meetings. 
  • Decision-making. CEOs make decisions for everyone that works for the company. They should be able to understand the working environment and make decisions that are good for everyone that works there.
  • Problem-solving. Chief executives often face company-wide problems. They should have quick problem-solving skills to help them find the best solutions to these types of problems.
  • Time management. With many different responsibilities, CEOs should know how to do many jobs at once and prioritize the most important ones. They must have good organizational and time management skills to complete each day’s jobs so they can meet their goals.
