         <description><![CDATA[<div>Pi knows that he can not let fear get to him on the boat as it may be the end of him if it does<mark>; furthermore, </mark>(; transition ,)Pi develops as a character and is able to carve out his own territory against Richard Parker. Pi looking at Richard Parker,&nbsp; knowing that he has to act as the alpha <mark>(Absolute Phrase).</mark> He knows that he has to outwit Richard Parker so he does not get eaten alive. Pi knows: “You must fight hard to shine the light of words on it. Because if you don’t, you open yourself to further attacks of fear because you never truly fought the opponent who defeated you,” (162). Richard Parker saves Pi’s life multiple times on the journey and it is because Pi was able to defeat the fear within himself and then on top of that he was able to control that fear. Feeling confident, Pi felt that he could use his fear to his advantage <mark>(Participle Phrase).</mark>&nbsp;</div>]]></description>
