While the 4 basic emotions are universal, it doesn't mean that the details that are involved with that emotion are universal as well. They are more based on culture. For example, as explained in the video, jealousy is not an emotion. It is more of a context or factors for the emotion. Jealousy makes a combination of displeasing emotions.

Emotions are not words

I learned that emotions are not only words but characteristics. It makes a lot of sense. Every language and culture do not have the same words for emotions as we do but they understand the characteristics. As he explained in the video, the theme and personality of said emotion builds a character.

Sadness is a basic emotion but there is characteristics and a theme built around it. Despair, grief, helplessness, and sorrow. All those words are not emotions but a context or detail of emotion. For instance, being stuck in a loop of debt can lead to someone feeling helplessness which is a kind of sadness.
