Based on the information, reading, and presentations we have had on both MAP and i-Ready, my recommendation would be to go with i-Ready for the 2018-2019 school year. I am open to a year of field testing prior to full implementation. The recommendation is based on the fact that i-Ready meets more of the best practices we created as a committee and I think that teachers, students, and parents will benefit from it's use. If the purpose of the assessments we give is to inform and guide instruction, I believe that i-Ready is the better choice.

As a committee, I think our next steps would be to discuss ongoing formative assessments such as the SBA interim block assessments and the assessments that come with our newly adopted ELA instructional materials at elementary, middle school, and high school. While the district may require i-Ready, we should create a list of recommended formative assessments that teachers could choose from to guide their instruction. I also think the committee should discuss the use of other assessments currently being used (such as DIBELS) to determine if they still reflect our goals for assessment based on our best practices document.

I was impressed with the iReady ease of access and access to resources. Intuitive for teachers with usable reports and follow up activities. I think a pilot might be a good start with schools that volunteer and that could provide ongoing feedback to the committee throughout the year.

As a committee, we need more time to consider the various assessments such as the IABs, the new ELA assessments, DIBELS, MAP, iReady, etc. and what is needed in our comprehensive assessment plan. We also need to create a staff development plan so staff will be able to effectively use the data from the assessments that are chosen. We should also consider the information from the curriculum audit as a guide.

I recommend the district move to using iReady. Based off the information provided, it is more usable and provides more actionable feedback. I believe that students will be able to use the data to goal set, parents will understand the data better and teachers can use it to drive their instruction. iReady aligned closely to our best practices document. I wouldn't be opposed to doing a pilot year next year for teachers to give their feedback to the committee.

I also think it would be a good idea to "train" a few in district individuals on iReady, if that is what we choose, that could be the go-to people in the district.

I recommend moving from MAP to iReady. I feel like it may be a heavy lift to do the entire district next year so we may need to pilot a couple of schools/levels to ensure that we have success when the rest of the district comes on-board. I am concerned that moving away from our other assessment at the elementary level. The assessments that are embedded in the curriculum (specifically for ELA) may not give the quick snapshots that we need for data and helping our students grow.

I recommend moving from MAP to iReady for the 2018-2019 school year. MAP does not provide usable information for classroom teachers or for students. While students may be able to set a goal to ¨ïmprove their score,¨ MAP misses the next steps for students to take towards grade level mastery, and beyond. Students and teachers alike (at least at the K-5) level are more than ready to make the transition to something which more coincides with our list of best practices. Also, iReady would help in reducing the amount of assessment students are required to do as iReady Reading could replace Dibels with our new curriculum complimenting for the fluency piece. Overall, there are no reasons which align with our current best practice document to support staying with MAP as opposed to transitioning to iReady.

Implement iReady at a minimum of k-5 district wide, with professional development. Replace tests which do not align to our current curriculum or common core standards and do not provide usable information (such as DIBELS and Aims) with iReady. Look at our best practice assessment document along with curriculum to find ways to better use formative assessment to guide instruction and monitor learning. To create uniform standards for district wide common assessments- such as Benchmark (K-2 curriculum) Leveling (much like DRA) 3 times a year to track student progress, and fluency standards based on CCSS for each grade level.
