Staying current with technology goes a long way with both of these standards,

Differentiation and personalized learning is a big part of standard 2 as well== Pedagogy!

Teaching to this standard can be so difficult- especially at the elementary level. How many adults do we all know that don't use technology responsibly?

That said, it should move to the front of the line! Our students must know how to evaluate information and understand their own digital footprints because the digital world is their world.

As teachers, we need to commit to growing our content knowledge and pedagogy in digital citizenship in order to do our best for our students.

Although Standard 1 combines teacher knowledge of subject matter and teaching and learning to using technology to advance student learning, you still must have a vision of technology infusion as noted in Standard 5. I know many teachers have the Content and Pedigogical knowledge but we are in need of training to bring our teachers up to the technological knowledge. Interesting reading!

Birgit, I agree that technology training should be ongoing, and included in all other PD as a viable tool.

I think it's important to note, though, that teachers need to be willing to take some risk with technology as well. New things come out every day-- some will be fantastic and take lessons to a new level, and others will flop. We'll never know until we try.

I see a lot of value in the teachable moments that arise when things don't always go as planned. On the spot lessons in flexibility problem solving come to mind.

As teachers model the use of digital tools for work and learning, they need to keep in mind what technologies are accessible to parents, teachers and students at home and at the school site.

Some parents and students have nothing at home, some only smart phones that may require special apps that MAY require a purchase. These should be avoided at a Title I school unless the school can purchase a home license.

So, that technology is a background or mode for delivering the learning goal. Content is the focus. How do we enhance the pedagogical experience through the use of technology

?
