In the novel "The Hunger Games," one of the major conflicts mentioned is the reaping. In chapter 1, page 22 the novel stated,"The twenty-four tributes will be improvised in a vast outdoor arena that could hold anything from a burning desert to a frozen wasteland. Over the period of several weeks, the competitors must fight to death." This shows how  these tributes must fight to death just for there own capitol. 

As you can see the reaping has impacted many people turning them cold blooded with watching many deaths they don't react as bad no more.

I know this because in the beginning of this novel they had the reaping. The reaping is the annual drawing of names for tributes to go to the hunger games. As the government is forcing people to go to the hunger games.
