In December 1920, pilot Frank Hawks gave Earhart a plane ride that would prompt her to earn her own pilot’s license. She went on to set a series of aviation records, starting in 1922 when she became the first woman to fly solo above 14,000 feet.

In 1937, Amelia Earhart set her sights on another first: flying around the globe. On July 2, with only 7,000 miles left on their 29,000-mile journey, she and navigator Fred Noonan set off from Lae, New Guinea, in her twin-engine Lockheed 10E Electra and disappeared somewhere over the Pacific. The plane and its occupants were never found, and the pair was declared lost at sea on July 19, 1937.

Amelia Earhart’s incredible career and unsolved disappearance continue to fascinate to this day.

Although they had voting rights in state and local levels, women wanted rights everywhere just as men did. A proposed women’s suffrage amendment/act to the U.S. Constitution was introduced to Congress in 1878 but was rejected by the U.S Senate in 1887. Once women helped during World War 1, President Woodrow Wilson was willing to give them full voting rights, but a 1918 attempt to pass the 19th Amendment failed to pass in the Senate, the amendment cleared both houses of Congress in June 1919, after which it was sent to the state legislatures for ratification. Some State's Legislatures quickly ratified it with some heated debates and rejections, Southern states were mostly the ones who opposed the amendment, Tennessee became the deciding 36th state to ratify the amendment. Also sold away from her family in childhood, Isabella was owned by several abusive enslavers. When she was an adult, she was married to an enslaved man named Thomas and was mother to 5 children. In 1826, Isabella escaped to seek freedom with her infant daughter and was freed from slavery in 1827 under New York’s emancipation laws. In 1828, she successfully fought in court for custody of her young son, who had been illegally sold to an enslaver in Alabama. Isabella became a devoted Christian and in 1843 she changed her name to Sojourner Truth. A highly religious woman, she became a traveling preacher, speaking at camp meetings. Sojourner Truth was a charismatic and powerful speaker, championing causes such as the abolition of slavery and equal rights. In the late 1850s, she moved to Michigan, which would serve as her home for the remainder of her life. During the Civil War, Sojourner Truth helped recruit black soilders for the Union army and worked with the National Freedman’s Relief Association. Sojourner Truth died on November 26, 1883, in Battle Creek, Michigan, at around age 86. Due to uncertainty about her true age, her tombstone says she was 105 years old.

Rosie the Riveter was an allegorical cultural icon of World War II, representing the women who worked in factories and shipyards during World War II, many of whom produced munitions and war supplies.^[1]^[2] These women sometimes took entirely new jobs replacing the male workers who joined the military. Rosie the Riveter is used as a symbol of American feminism and women's economic advantage.^[3]

Similar images of women war workers appeared in other countries such as Britain and Australia. The idea of Rosie the Riveter originated in a song written in 1942 by Redd Evans and John Jacob Loeb. Later, in 1903, Marie, along with her husband Pierre and another researcher named Henri Becquerel, won their first Nobel Prize in physics for researching radioactivity. Her husband, Pierre, died in an accident in 1906. He was a professor in the University of Paris. Thus, the school gave his job to his wife, Marie, which made her the first female professor at the school. Marie was awarded her second Nobel Prize, in chemistry, in 1911. During WWl Marie developed X-ray units to diagnose injuries, they were referred to as "Petites Curies." She became a member of the French Academy of Medicine in 1922. Her career was mostly dedicated to researching radiation, specifically medical uses of radiation. Walker was the first.Black women self-made millionaire. Born Sarah Breedlove in 1867 on a cotton plantation near Delta, Louisiana, Walker was the daughter of formerly enslaved parents. Orphaned at just 7 years old, she married at age 14 but found herself widowed and a single mother by the time she was 20.Struggling to survive, Sarah and her daughter moved to St. Louis, Missouri, where she worked as a laundress. She married a second time in 1894, but the marriage ended in divorce a few years later. Sarah had developed a scalp condition in the 1890s that led to hair loss. She said she dreamed one night which led her to make a new hair product that cleared up her scalp problem. She marketed the formula and created her own business. She lived with her mother and grandparents and at the age of 16 was forced to quit school due to her taking care of her sick grandmother and later her sick mother. She at age 19 got married and got her high school diploma. Rosa also joined the NAACP in 1943. In December 1, 1955 she refused to give up her seat on a bus to a white passenger ( due to segregation) and got arrested. The people then protested for 381 days and was successful. Because of the protest, Montgomery had to rearrange its laws and desegregate the buses. Even in her later life, she continued to be involved with the civil rights movements. She had been involved with the Chartist movement , Irish Potato Famine , repeal of the Corn Laws, Crimean War , Reform Acts of 1867 and 1885, and Russo-Turkish War. Victoria was considered the grandmother of Britain because of her children marrying into royalty. Victoria had left a good impact on her people during her reign the news article states that she had made the country more democratic and understanding of the people's wishes when deciding on important things.
