The Great Gatsby incorporates a lot of music throughout the book, especially jazz. This is because the story takes place during the roaring 20's, a time period after WWI, that was full of new things like dancing and music. The story uses a lot of the music during Gatsby's parties as a form of entertainment, but also uses it to show the characters' emotions. The lyrics of the songs that are used directly relate to the mood of the character.

-"The Sheik of Araby" "I'm the Sheik of Araby, your love belongs to me, at night when you're asleep, into your tent I'll creep." (pg. 83)
This song is by Ted Snyder, and is used when Nick and Jordan are discussing Gatsby's love for Daisy. In this moment, Daisy is telling Nick about Gatsby's house location, and how he got that house to be close to her. The song is being song by two young girls in the background. The "tent" is referring to the houses of Daisy and Gatsby. This song, in a way, creates a mood or feeling of being possessive.
-"Try Me": This song is by The Weeknd, and talks about how the girl he loves belongs to him, and how she needs to be with him. This is very similar to how Gatsby feels about Daisy. No matter who Daisy is married to, Gatsby believes that he is her only love. The tone of this song is definitely dark and depressing.
Link to "Try Me" music video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y08R20KflNM

"Gatsby and Daisy danced. I remember being surprised by his graceful foxtrot" (pg. 112)
This song is by Theodora Morse and recorded by Paul Whiteman. It is used because Gatsby and Daisy want to spend just one more night together, but they know they can't. It is played when Nick and Daisy visit Gatsby's house, and Nick witnesses them dancing. It says, "one more waltz with you." This song relates to the whole book because all Gatsby wants is Daisy, but they can't be together without many difficulties. This song creates a mood of love, or just wanting to be together with someone no matter what.
"One More Night With You"
This song is a country song by Wade Hayes. It discusses a long car ride, and all of these obstacles that must be gone through to spend one night with his love. This is very similar and relates to the book because Daisy and Gatsby have to go through many different obstacles to be together, as they have to avoid Tom and avoid the press. The mood created is definitely about love, like the book. The song says," I do what I do cause I know when I'm through I get one night with you."
Link to "One More Night With You": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ID_32cAuIag

This songs says "But the best of them all, Twas built in bygone. Ancient Jack and Jill are gone, yet return again."It is by Louis A. Hirsch. This song is played on Gatsby's piano while Daisy is visiting. It is very clear that Gatsby wants to repeat the past, and be with Daisy again. Once again, Nick is present during this scene. This whole song is about love being reunited or love that was lost. The mood of this song could possibly be "regret" due to the fact that their love was lost in the first place.
"Let's just fall in love again":
This song is written by Jason Castro, and is basically a song about a man who wants to start over with the girl he loves. This is almost identical to Gatsby's situation. The song says, "Let's pretend baby that you just met me" and goes on to say "let's just fall in love again." In the book, Gatsby just wants to start over again with Daisy, and run away with her. The mood created by this song is also "regret."
Link to "Let's just fall in love again": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzoiTk6oSKw
