ELD English 10/Lab

I have more than ten years of teaching experience and am enthusiastic about guiding students' educational journeys. I am a certified English Language Development (ELD) Teacher, Reading Specialist, and English Language Arts teacher. I recently earned my Ph.D., which enhanced my expertise in the field. I am also proud to be a National Board Certified Teacher, a recognition of my commitment to excellence in teaching. In my spare time, I enjoy dancing, reading, going on walks with my dog, and of course, traveling!

For SY 2023-24, I was on sabbatical leave with the county. I was fortunate to have been selected as an English Language Fellow in Agadir, Morocco. The EL Fellows Program is a 10-month program sponsored by the US Department of State. While in Morocco, I taught future teachers at two local universities. During my fellowship, we also had the opportunity to travel to Paris, Barcelona, and many cities within Morocco. It was an amazing opportunity and a life-changing experience.

I am happy to have joined the High Point ELD team and look forward to making a positive difference and impact on our students.

This is my 32nd year of teaching(10 years in my home country, Cameroon, 22nd with the county, and 18th at High Point High School. I have taught every single course offered by the ELD department and I am teaching English 9 this year.

I gained half of my teaching experience in the Philippines. As a Reading, English Language Arts, and Special Education Teacher, I was blessed to continue teaching for nine years at Washington, DC, and Prince George's County Public Schools-Largo High School (6 years). I am certified in Reading/English Language, Special Education, Reading/English Language  Arts, and  English Language Development.

I look forward to a beautiful and productive school year and contributing to the vibrant and amazing ELD team at High Point High School as an ELD teacher. I am teaching English 9 this school year. Thank you for the warm welcome.

*This is my eighth year of teaching within PGCPS, and my second year at High Point.

*I enjoy teaching Newcomer students, and love to watch them as they progress and learn new skills in English.

*I am a life-long learner, and I often feel that I learn more from my students than they learn from me.

This year marks my 22nd year of teaching at High Point High School. While I have spent many years teaching ESOL Beginners, I’m excited to start a new chapter as I will be teaching ELD Advanced this year. I look forward to learning about the course and working with the students.
