The United Nations also issued the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which set human rights standards for all nations. After World War 2, the U.S created a program called the Marshall Plan which economically aided Western Europe with $12 billion to help Western Europe recover from World War 2. During 1945 and 1946, an International Military Tribunal representing 23 nations put Nazi war criminals on trial, these were known as the Nuremberg Trials. In the first trial 22 Nazi leaders were charged with raging war of aggression. First 4 points included end to secret treaties, freedom of the seas, free trade, and reduced national armies and navies. 5th was adjustment of colonial claims with fairness toward colonial peoples. 6th to 13th were specific suggestions for changing borders and creating new nations. 14th point proposed "general association of nations" that would protect "great and small states alike"

An alliance is a group or union that are joined for an equal cause or benefit. An up-side to alliances is that it can be designed to keep peace. A down-side would be some alliances trying to cause conflicts with other alliances or nations.

Imperialism is when a country trues to rule other nations by their power and influence with diplomacy or force. Two examples would be Europeans trying to colonize Africa and Asia, which caused Europeans to have tense rivalry with each other which caused conflict and the brink of war. The other example would be Mussolini attacking Ethiopia, a non-colonized nation, for conquest. The Ethiopians loss by the Italian's superior weaponry and technology.

Nationalism is someone or a group of people who are dedicated to their country. Nationalism has factors in the war like how nationalism can cause intense rivalries with other nations like European powers in World War I. Australia did not want to and the nation's leaders had already settled on war on July 28. Russia then had troops go towards the Australian and German border. On August 1, the German government declared war on Russia and France since they were both allies. Great Britain then declared war on Germany.
