We begun by discussing our individual ideas we had previously picked and how they may all collaborate together to make one whole concept which sooner revealed how well they would all tie together.  For example, one using camera angles and filming techniques, another using different filming environments and finally how movement can be inspired from daily sights/art around London. Merging all of these ideas together led us to the collaborative decision of using different styles of art from around London, such as, modern arts ad graffiti to inspire movement.  This idea of using such a diverse range of art made the decision of arts and filming environment difficult as there is such a wide rage of style of arts around London. So as part of our process we brainstormed a few locations that would be suitable and accessible within a spider diagram to help show what could work. This was then developed into a PowerPoint format which we would use to pitch our ideas. We later discussed these locations in depth and selected the most suitable and inspirational places we would like to explore  and develop our ideas further.

Knowing this sound would have to work for a selection of different styles of movement such as lyrical into commercial it led us to the collaborative decision to select a piece with no lyrics.  This decision came after workshopping a few songs with movement and it becoming apparent that the lyrics may possibly have an impact on how the audience perceives the movement and take away from the initial artistic inspirations. We originally planned on using ‘people watching’ by Conan Grey, however after trying different styles of movement it became clear that as much as it was great for the lyrical content it was too strong of a contrast to use with the incorporated elements of commercial. We made the decision to use the fully instrumental version of ‘Omen’ by Disclosure ft. Sam smith as the beat behind this song worked for all sections of dance.

While out our Videographer, Carlie, would photograph a selection of different styles of artwork that would possibly work for creating movement on at a later date in the studio. Another Location decided on visiting was the graffiti tunnels located in Southbank where a variety of unknown artists have the freedom to express their feelings and ideas through their work. Using such an ever changing location like the graffiti tunnels it was decided that filming onsite and creating the movement in the movement would be best, this meaning the movement would be original with true presentation of how the arts made us feel. Once at these selected onsite filming locations we took time to select the art pieces and begin creating a collection of choreography. With ideas of some art we were hoping to use, for example the pair of swans in a tunnel , a duet was created based of off this idea of majestic swans moving together. Being a larger group of 6 finding time where we were all free was a challenge due to members having work or rehearsals, however a select few weekends did work so we made a point of utilising the time we did find available. Once these dates were selected we wrote out a day plan to make sure everyone knew where they had to be and at what time. Thankfully our team were lucky enough to have the assistance of our videographer, Carlie, who edited these clips to make one video with the use of different angles highlighting the different ways art can be perceived. Although, with this in mind as a group I felt we all had a high level of understanding and respect towards each other and their opinions and worked together to achieve our objective. 

A development in the process I would consider working on however would be the roles that we each play in the development of ideas and making sure we all understand what they are and what they involve. Personally our roles crossed paths and what each person inputted became a blur, understandably as it was a group project we all worked collaboratively with the end goal in mind but it became more of a work load for individual members. Another development I would make would be to try spread out filming days to ensure the highest quality of footage possible due to the days being fewer in number but longer hours I felt by the end of days we all began to feel fatigued and the final movements could look weighted and tired. 

I thoroughly enjoyed the process as a whole and felt it was beneficial to work with people I wouldn’t normally be in a group with. The movement we created was then filmed numerous times, again using a series of different camera angles to allow us to have a variety of choice and capture the best possible perspective of the choreography.
